Fall Classic Game 7 Captures 51M Viewers Across the United States, Canada and Japan Markets.

The exciting extended matchup where the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays by one run attracted a combined over 50 million watchers across the United States, Canadian, and Japan territories. Major League Baseball stated this is the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 edition showdown between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable game secured over 27 million viewers on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched World Series game after the 2017 final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07M. This represents a sixteen percent increase over the previous finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, Game 4 ranked seventh, the fifth game was eighth, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth place.

International Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the climactic game averaged 11.6M viewers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English-language program in Canada after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it drew 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – drew over 13 million spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Series Averages and Trends

The entire seven-game series drew 15.71M audience members on Fox, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership growth for two straight seasons.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the complete American viewership reached 16.1 million. The total World Series viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09M watchers, an eight percent increase compared to last year and the network’s best playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball stated that the World Series was televised in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in sixteen various tongues.
